On September 26, 2025, SONRISAS EN ACCIÓN, in partnership with AID FOR GAZA, carried out a humanitarian campaign to distribute food to families displaced from northern Gaza during one of the deadliest periods of famine the Gaza Strip has faced since the beginning of the war.

Thousands of families were forced to flee their devastated homes in northern Gaza toward the central and southern areas, where displaced people are living in catastrophic humanitarian conditions amid severe shortages of food, water, and medicine, along with the near-total collapse of infrastructure and essential services.

This humanitarian initiative came at an extremely critical time, as several international organizations warned of the growing risk of mass famine in Gaza. The World Food Programme (WFP) stated that hundreds of thousands of civilians are facing catastrophic levels of food insecurity, while UNICEF warned that children in Gaza are at increasing risk of acute malnutrition due to the ongoing blockade and the lack of humanitarian supplies.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) also described the humanitarian situation in Gaza as “unprecedented,” emphasizing that families are living in extremely harsh conditions without the minimum necessities for a dignified life, amid continued displacement and limited humanitarian aid.

During the campaign, food meals were distributed to hundreds of displaced people suffering from hunger and exhaustion after months of war and hardship. Many families expressed their gratitude for the initiative, which provided them with a sense of hope and solidarity during one of the most difficult periods they have endured.

SONRISAS EN ACCIÓN and its partners at AID FOR GAZA reaffirm their commitment to continuing humanitarian efforts to support affected families and deliver food and relief assistance to as many people in need as possible, despite the enormous challenges created by the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
