New Shoes… and Smiles That Brought Childhood Back to Gaza’s Children
New Shoes… and Smiles That Brought Childhood Back to Gaza’s Children
Amid the ongoing war on the Gaza Strip, children are living through devastating humanitarian conditions after thousands of families lost their homes and belongings due to repeated displacement and bombardment. Many children fled without even having the chance to carry their clothes or personal belongings, only to find themselves living in shelters and tents with almost nothing.
With the extreme rise in prices and the lack of affordable clothing and shoes in local markets, even the most basic daily needs have become out of reach for many displaced families. Children, in particular, have been suffering from cold weather and difficulty moving around while wearing torn shoes—or having no shoes at all.
For this reason, INCA, in partnership with AID FOR GAZA, distributed new shoes to all students at the “Children of Gaza” school in a humanitarian initiative aimed at bringing joy to children’s hearts and easing part of their daily suffering.
The moments when the children received their new shoes were filled with powerful emotions. Genuine happiness appeared on their faces, and their smiles reflected a small piece of the childhood that war had taken away from them. Some children hugged their new shoes with overwhelming joy, while others could not hide their excitement and amazement at owning something new that made them feel cared for and valued.
This initiative was not only about distributing shoes—it was a humanitarian message that restored a sense of hope, warmth, and dignity to children living through extremely difficult circumstances.
